Ski touring & freeride adventure in Georgia

Difficulty:

Powder paradise Caucasus

The High Caucasus is still an insider tip for freeriders and ski tourers. Away from the well-known Alpine hotspots, endless slopes, wide cirques and impressive mountain scenery await here. Short ascents open up descents of up to 2,000 metres in depth - untracked, pristine and with a snow guarantee that is second to none.

Our base is the winter sports resort of Gudauri, just 120 kilometres from Tbilisi, situated at 2,196 metres above sea level. This is home to Georgia's largest ski resort - with 75 kilometres of pistes, four gondola lifts, ten chairlifts and a highest point at 3,279 metres. Much more exciting, however, is the terrain away from the marked pistes: In just 15 to 90 minutes of ascent, endless descents open up with up to 2,000 vertical metres of powder. Unlike the overcrowded Alpine hotspots, the crowds are manageable - perfect conditions for real freeride experiences.

The vast touring terrain around the Kreuzpass and towards Stepanzminda is also enticing away from the ski area: secluded slopes, impressive scenery and countless opportunities for varied ski tours.

At the end of the week, we immerse ourselves in the colourful life of Tbilisi. The Georgian capital inspires with its mixture of tradition, culture and vibrant city flair - the perfect contrast to the quiet high mountains.

Georgia combines deep alpine snow with a real sense of adventure - a ski holiday that leaves its mark.

What you can expect:

  • A week of freeriding & ski touring in the spectacular High Caucasus
  • Long descents over 2,000 metres in depth
  • Option to Heliskiing
  • Comfortable accommodation in a four-star hotel
  • Lively winter sports resort with numerous bars & restaurants
  • Lots of fun with like-minded people

Accommodation

We are accommodated in extremely cosy & modern lodges in the fishing village of Hamn i Senja. Why in lodges and not in a hotel? Because we want to strengthen the cohesion in the group and the community experience. The positive experiences of recent years with a great team spirit speak for themselves. Each lodge can accommodate six people in three double rooms. All lodges have the following facilities:

  • Comfortable double room
  • Shower, WC
  • Fully equipped kitchen
  • Washing machine & tumble dryer
  • Living room

Catering: We live in Self-catering-lodges. This means that each lodge is responsible for its own catering. We regularly visit the local supermarket to replenish our supplies. The menu also regularly includes fresh fish, which we buy directly from the fishermen at the harbour. On the day of arrival, we order catering and are spoilt with local delicacies. And if you don't want to cook yourself or eat freshly caught fish, you can walk 100 metres to the neighbouring hotel and enjoy local cuisine at good prices.
