Gudauri – The powder mecca in the High Caucasus

Just 120 kilometres north of the Georgian capital Tbilisi lies Gudauri, an up-and-coming winter sports resort on the legendary Cross Pass in the High Caucasus. At 2,196 metres above sea level, the village towers above the famous Georgian Military Highway – and in recent years has become an insider tip for freeriders and ski tourers.

The Gudauri ski resort is the largest in the country. It has around 75 kilometres of slopes, four gondola lifts, ten chair lifts and a highest point of 3,279 metres. In addition to the groomed runs, the area offers extensive off-piste terrain that is used for freeriding and ski touring. With short ascents, descents of up to 2,000 metres in altitude can be achieved.

The region around Gudauri is characterised by the High Caucasus Mountains and offers numerous opportunities for mountain sports in both winter and summer. In addition to skiing and ski touring, hiking and mountaineering are among the most popular activities during the warmer months.

Due to its proximity to Tbilisi, Gudauri is an important destination in Georgian tourism for both day trips and longer stays.

Dry climate: The inner Alpine climate preserves the dry powder snow for a longer period of time.

altitudeGudauri is located more than 2,000 metres above sea level. This means that we can quickly reach the starting points of high alpine routes without lengthy approaches through the forest.
